After the meeting, I went to meet up wif one of my besties (aka sister). Well, she's more of a sista to me than a fren and we knew each other for at least 20 yrs already.
A bit of a sidetrack of my relationship with her. Considering the fact that she's my oldest fren but I felt bad as I couldnt be her bridesmaid. I was very stressed during that period and wanted to get out to breathe fresh air. I did told her that I would be attending her wedding immediately after my arrival.
After meeting her, I went back to freshen up for a movie date with SL. Of course, it was none other than Angels and Demons. Thoroughly enjoyed the show and it's definitely worth my wait. Had read this and Da Vinci Code way before these shows were shown(read them at approx 2 - 3 yrs ago). I'm not here to discuss or entangle myself into this age old Faith vs Science debate, etc... but I thought Mr Brown was a pretty good researcher.
The show made me rethink about religion as a whole and its fragility in modern times. No offence to Christians or Catholics. Frankly, I thought these 2 shows did provoked thoughts on Christian as well as Catholic beliefs and it makes me re-examine many things in life. I'm not trying to invite debate on this. BTW, I do like Tom Hank's character's - Langdon quote," Faith is a gift that I've yet to receive."
There was another incident that happened in SG not too long ago, AWARE storm. According to some reports, the ex-committee (most of them) came from the same church and their beliefs were very much against Gay, Les, Trans. Cant imagine the issues that they would raise and this could also reflect and translate on their narrowness in terms of their views if they were successful. Perhaps, they may have forgotten that the world is made up of diversity in terms of culture, attitudes, etc. Of course, some of their views didnt sit down very well with the majority of the crowd (supporters were with the old guards/ the committee before this controvesy) during the meeting. During the meeting, there were many iconic sentences such as "Shut up and sit down " , "You have no respect for your elders" and " Where are you?". The committee stepped down eventually.
Ideally, everybody should be open-minded with discoveries and not be close minded if things do not happen in a certain way. I undererstand these may not sit very well with the tradition religious belief especially with the origins of man, other alternative living habits of human being as well as others includes the discoveries of the documents that were not included in the holy book.
Everybody has to recognise the fact that all of us are unique as well as different and learn to respect each other as humans. Perhaps, through all these provoking thoughts and shows, it may help you to strengthen your faith in whatever religion you believe in.
Truth is what I'm pursuing and is what I believe. At the end of the day I could only say that science and faith are different sides of the same coin and there will be a continuous battle of science vs faith. Period.
