Mind rumblings

I love to gaze at people and wondering what's happening in their lives. Coz what reflects on the surface is not accurately depicts the happenings of the inner self. Hopefully, this exercise will enrich my personal life experiences.

I do miss travelling overseas and experience other countries' culture and their ways of living such as their mannerisms.

An example is in Taipei, Taiwanese do avoid the priority seats and give up their own seats for the needy while commuting in their trains.

However, these priority seats are the 'most grabbed' ones in Singapore. It seems like an able person will still choose to sit there. Usually, they feign ignorance by pretending to sleep or totally engrossed in their own world by playing with their mobile phones or games. One of pet peeves is they will 'chop' the seats to allow one of their own to sit together. The other is they will rush to the available seat even though they are at the other end of the train carriage as if they are behaving like vultures looking for food. After they get the coveted seat, they would flash their victory smile which can be sicked and disgusted. Of course, there are some kind-hearted Singaporeans around to give up their seats.

There are some instances when you gladly give up your seats but sometimes, you are given the 'you are expected to give up this seat coz I'm more needy than you' type of look especially from the elderly and pregnant ladies. They do not acknowledge your 'kindness' and kinda expecting you to do so.

The other thing is Taiwanese will queue up to enter the trains and unlike Singaporeans who will rush in before those who alight at the stations. These are not the only differences. Taiwanese have a designated area for ladies who queue for the trains at night and this is extremely rare for many Asian cities.

The other example is in Japanese trains, every phone is in silent mode and nobody talks loudly on the phone, too. However, people in Singapore (even those Chinese in China who work in Singapore) will speak loudly on their mobile phones to make sure that everybody gets a piece of their 'juicy' life. Or they would like to share their music to the rest of the world. It gets very annoying especially when you have a hard day at work and want to have some peace and quiet while on your way home. Seriously, their choice of music is not fabulous.

Sometimes, I really do wish that these people should take a glance and explore of the world outside and not get stuck in Singapore coz these behaviours are definitely disgusting. I begin to wonder are all major cities are like that. Or I am just being too critical as usual.

These are just some of the reasons that I find Singaporeans (some) disgusting and not too first class in terms of the behaviours.

Well, if you are Singaporean or even other nationalities, I welcome your comments / views on these opinions of mine.
